A Saskachewan union treasurer will find out later this week whether his gambling habit will result in jail time.
Roger Harding was the treasurer of United Mine Workers of America in the province.
He was charged with two counts of fraud over $5,000 after taking more than $300,000 from a United Mine Workers of America local between September 1999 and March of last year.
Harding, who was the treasurer, told court he would sometimes spend as much as $1,000 a day on video lottery terminals.
The Crown is asking for significant jail time while the defence wants a conditional sentence.
