Pinnacle Entertainment build $350 million casino – Lake Charles

LAS VEGAS, June 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Pinnacle Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE: PNK) announced today that the Company intends to build a new $350 million casino resort in Lake Charles, La., adjacent to its highly successful L’Auberge du Lac Hotel & Casino property. The new resort is a replacement for the Harrah’s Lake Charles facility, which was largely destroyed by Hurricane Rita and that the Company recently agreed to acquire.

Sugarcane Bay will evoke the laid-back island feeling of the Caribbean, combined with gracious Southern hospitality in an environment of comfortable luxury. The resort will feature 400 guestrooms and suites, many with panoramic views of beautiful Contraband Bayou.

As at L’Auberge, the hotel and other amenities will surround a new single-level riverboat casino. The Sugarcane Bay casino will feature a dedicated poker room, table games and approximately 1,500 slot machines. Such casino is subject to approval from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board. Sugarcane Bay will also feature a variety of exciting new restaurants, retail shopping, a tropical pool area and an island spa. It will be connected to L’Auberge so that guests can easily access both properties.

Construction on Sugarcane Bay is expected to begin in 2007 with a planned opening in 2009, subject to final approval from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.

Additionally, L’Auberge, which opened in May 2005, will break ground in August on its previously announced hotel room expansion. The new 250-guestroom tower will expand the total number of hotel rooms and suites to approximately 1,000. The expansion is expected to be completed in 2007.

Play It Live at bet365poker!

By Drifter:

This is a great system that I devised a few months ago and have been using since with great success. With a small bankroll, ( even as low as $4 sometimes when I have been on a stupid rebuy spree in a big tournament) I have managed to build it right back up in a few days using this simple mathematical system.

It utilizes the type of games they have at the Bet365 site. There are some ‘Sit and Goes’ at this room that have 5 entrants, yet pay 3 places. That means unless you are really unlucky, or play badly, you should at least get near the top 3 just by playing a tight game. Then when it’s down to 3 people you can start to relax and play a more normal game.

How it works is it divides the different money level games into divisions. Then you look at the table below, check your bankroll against it, and then play at that level. Treat it like a challenge, see how quickly you can move up a level. Why it worked for me was it let me play at the right standard. I used to always play $20-$50 games when I wasn’t ready, losing far too much, but now I am usually playing at the right standard and I always have bankroll.

I designed it so that if you drop down a level ( it happens frequently so don’t be alarmed) you would have to lose 4 games in a row to drop down another level. Therefore your progress is steady, and your bankroll builds up.

Remember you do have to use BET 365 as they have the right sort of games. Make sure you click on the 5 player sit and goes that pay 3 places (some only pay two)
I made over $400 last month just playing it steadily. To join Bet365 click on this link here.

Top five reasons you play bad poker

There’s a quote I once heard that I thought was genius: "Poker is a lot like sex. Everybody thinks they are great at it, but most people don’t really know what they’re doing."

Because of that truth, people generally blame their losing streaks on bad luck. Well, while bad luck can certainly play a role, there might just be other pressing factors for your losing. Here are the top five reasons.

Bad Luck — If this is your worst problem, then, ironically, you’re in luck! Why? Poker is a game where luck does play a part in how well you do, and bad luck could be the reason you’re losing.

However, the longer you play poker, smartly, the less likely bad luck will continue as a factor that brings you down. Like all poker players, you have to ride out bad luck streaks. Just don’t be foolish and create your own bad luck.

Losing a few sessions in a row can easily be chalked up to bad luck, but if you’re habitually losing after months and months of play, chances are bad luck is not really the key factor.

Here’s a suggestion: Chart your results by the hour. See how you’re doing after 500 to 1,000 hours of play before throwing in the towel. If you’re still showing a loss after that much play, well, you just might have a problem that has nothing to do with luck.

Too Predictable — This is especially true if you were once a winning player against the same opponents and are now losing to them on a regular basis. If you have a very straight forward approach to the game, it could be that your opponents are on to you. Solution: Elevate your game by adding some deceptive plays to your arsenal.

For example, if your opponents have caught on to the fact that you simply never bluff, maybe it’s time that you come out of your shell and start making some creative moves.

Playing in Tough Games — You could be the fifth best poker player in the world, but if you’re seated at a table with the top four players in the world, well, you’re the sucker!

Game selection is as important to your bankroll as how you play the game. Swallow your pride, put your ego in check, and simply ask yourself this tough question: Are the guys that I play with better than me? If the answer is yes, you need to find a new game against lesser-skilled competitors.

Lack of Fundamentals — This is a common very reason for losing. But there is some good news: Learning poker fundamentals is as easy as picking up a few great books and working on expanding your knowledge base. Hey, it certainly couldn’t hurt.

If you don’t have a solid foundation for making poker decisions, you’ll always be a step behind. Learn how to play the game the right way by focusing on the basics, and when you get those down, add the elements of your own style to the mix.

And the number one reason why you’re losing at poker:

Playing on Tilt — The most significant factor in your overall results is how you handle yourself when you get unlucky. Many players blow a gasket, lose their cool, and their bankrolls soon follow.

Taking a bad beat or two is inevitable. The difference between long-term winners and losers is how bad luck affects their play over the course of the session.

You never want to chase your money. You also don’t want to lose your patience by playing hands you know you shouldn’t be playing. If you simply can’t handle the stress related to bad beats, then do yourself a favor and quit before things turn ugly.

Remember, there’s always tomorrow. Poker isn’t going anywhere.

College Students Playing Poker For Scholarships

(CBS4) BOSTON At a Sunday night game of Texas hold’em, college kids are not just playing for fun. They are practicing to win tournaments and pay for college.

"I think I’m one of the better players," says Chad Hall, and he’s not bluffing. Last year, he won $41,000 in an online tournament.

The prize had to be used as a scholarship for college. Chad played in the College Poker Championship…one of several tournaments run by gambling websites.

Students don’t wager real money, but the winnings are real.

Woman Wins $20.5 million Megabucks

A 64-year-old Las Vegas retiree won a Megabucks slot jackpot worth $20,519,025 today at the Cannery Casino & Hotel in North Las Vegas.

It was the second Megabucks winner the Cannery has had in the last nine months. Elmer Sherwin won his second Megabucks jackpot – the only person ever to win it twice – at the Cannery in September 2005.

The new Cannery winner requested anonymity, but said she had played only $12 in the machine – four pulls of the slot handle – when the jackpot hit. "My friend told me, ‘Megabucks is going to hit’," said the winner. "I couldn’t believe I had won it. A cleaning lady in the casino pointed to the big jackpot and said, ‘You won that.’"

The lucky woman said she plans to use her winnings to pay off her mortgage and possibly buy a new car.

A penny video version of Megabucks has a statistically overdue jackpot of more than $14.6 million, which will set a world record for a penny slot payout when it is hit.

There are more than 600 Megabucks dollar slots in 164 casinos throughout Nevada. The progressive system’s MegaJackpot can be won for a $3 bet and is paid in annual installments upon verification.
